What wines are best for thanksgiving dinner?

Hosting thanksgiving and can't add wine pairings to your endless list of things to do? We've got you. We've compiled some of our best wines from the U.S and other corners of the world, and paired them with some of your classic thanksgiving flavour profiles so you don't have to worry! All of it will be in our Thanksgiving Bundle

Which wines to serve with Thanksgiving appetizers?

To start with, if you're serving some classic appetisers we'd recommend going for something light.  If you're starting with a cheese-based starter like a cheese and charcuterie board, or a baked brie with cranberry sauce you might try some of our sparkling bottles!

  • Start things off easy with a Merlot that will take you straight into mains nicely! The Hedges Organic Red 2021 by the Hedges Family Estate is the perfect easy drink that will get the evening going. This wine is also really versatile, because it has the tannins to pair with a heavy meat or poultry dish so you can go straight to mains! It's also organic of course!
  • Alternatively, you could try a conversation starter, like the Tank Garage Fast & Loose 2018. This fascinating wine is the result of a blend of both red and white grapes, including the intriguing Teroldego.

Which wines pair with Roast Turkey?

Just like the food at the table, it's best to have some variety with your wines! You'll have plenty of flavours in your food, give people the option to choose their own option. That being said here are our recommendations for all things turkey, cornbread and casserole.

If you're going the non-turkey route these reds are perfectly suitable for any spiced main!

  • The Souzã Tinta Cão 2018 by Hedges again offers a verstaile profile which pairs with grilled meats and vegetable dishes, for those who favour veggies on Thanksgiving!
  • The High Country Red Passe-tout-Grains 2017 is also a delight by Gros Ventre. A pinot noir that pairs with any poultry and with vegetarian dishes, so it'll be a crowd pleaser.

Wine Pairing for Sweet Desserts

If you like your pumpkin, apple, or pecan pie "a la mode", and that is, with a glass of wine, you could easily carry over with the Organic Red, but if you're feeling fancy, you could try some of our more eclectic wines.

  • The Benguela Cove Noble Late Harvest 2020 (Half) is the perfect pairing for any dessert. It stays fresh and crisp on the palate.
  • Or go all out and enjoy the Frerejean Frères Grand Réserve Brut NV (which is delightful by itself) to pop to round off the party!

And that's it! You've got a whole meal's worth of wine ready. Luckily we've picked out some of the best for you in a 6-case Thanksgiving Bundle.
