Protesta Tinto 2023
Rioja Alavesa, Rioja, Spain
Tempranillo | 13.5% ABV
Bright cherry colour with a violet rim. Youthful and fragrant, with aromas of violets and wild forest fruits over a background of toasted bread and strawberry fruit gums and caramel. On the palate these primary fruit characteristics continue to dominate, like a fine summer pudding of berries.
Service: Serve at 17°C.
Food Pairing: Excellent with beef, lamb, game, pork, pasta in tomato sauce and vegetarian dishes
Casado Morales winery and vineyards are the result of a family’s tradition and work.
Since 1925 three generations have made possible to enjoy today the excellent wines that are born in our own vineyards.
Casado Morales’s wines are made personally, despite the manual work the vineyards’ soil and terrain require in the vine’s various maintenance tasks.
Passion for the field, vineyards, winery and family come together in perfect harmony to elaborate a unique wine.
Nature makes wines resemble one another so we compare them, soil and man make them different, so we tell them apart.
This wine is made from a blend of grapes grown in vineyards belonging to the Casado Morales family in the villages of Lapuebla de Labarca and Laguardia. This wine is made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes, mostly grown on bush vines of over 35 years old. These vineyards have less Atlantic influence which means that the wines do not require such a long ageing.
1* Up & Coming
Mario and the team at Viñedos Bodegas y Casado Morales are committed to a level of sustainability that surpasses the vast majority of vineyards surrounding Rioja. Dedicated the commitment of sustainable viticulture, Casado Morales employs vegan friendly practices and is certified Vegan in their Protesta range. Similarly, the vineyard and estate also practice Organic farming, away from the use of herbicides, pesticides and all non-natural chemicals. Biodynamic farming principals are also used, but not certified.
As well as being a committed practice in the fields, Casado Morales ensures they do their best away from the vines. Through the use of electric vehicles and machinery, CM is able to cut their carbon footprint as well as commit themselves to run on 100% renewable energy sources from the national grid.
It is an absolute pleasure to be working closely with such a committed vineyard and we look forward to strengthening and contributing to their part of nature.
