Sussex Sunset Honey Wine MV
West Sussex, England
Honey | 11% ABV
We are delighted to offer yet again another stunning honey wine from Loxwood. Inspired by the silhouetted oak trees, they decided to explore oak fermentation. The result is Sussex Sunset, an innovative dry honey wine, deepened by oak fermentation. Best enjoyed while taking a moment to appreciate the beautiful world around us.
Notes of toasted almonds, a sumptuous buttery mouthfeel, and the delicate sweetness of stone fruits converge to create a captivatingly dry finish.
Service: Start by chilling your honey wine in the fridge, letting it breathe for 10 minutes before pouring it into a white wine glass, unlocking its full spectrum of aromas or decant.
Food Pairing: Elevate this experience by pairing it with delightful treats such as lemon ricotta tortellini, glazed pork belly, a succulent buttery lemon sea bass, or a brie and prosciutto bruschetta with a touch of honey.
Oliver
A 28-acre woodland and meadow filled with wildflowers, where we care for our bee colonies. Typically, mead is associated with all things medieval. Founder Danny was selling mead for The Loxwood Joust (an annual medieval festival he runs in West Sussex). Seeing how much people loved it, he thought "Why does no one drink mead anymore? Surely we can bring it back, but in a modern way"...
So, Danny ventured out to find a team to ignite his vision. Together, they embark on a mission to re-imagine how mead can look, taste, and live in a modern world. Starting from scratch, they experimented, tasted, designed (and tasted some more) until they created the signature Pure Mead you see today.
Launching a new product into the world, the team have thought from day 1 about its effect on the planet. They are committed to conscious production, a focus on minimising their carbon footprint, and most importantly, protecting their most important workers – the bees.
